The Ragged Mountain Foundation is pleased to announce that we have secured free parking for climbers and hikers who would like to explore the Electric Rocks area in Southington.  

The YMCA Camp Sloper Outdoor Center has graciously allowed the RMF to purchase a parking pass for on behalf of our members.

This parking pass is secured through an annual donation by the RMF to the YMCA Camp Sloper.  Such a donation is only made possible through the generous support of members of the Ragged Mountain Foundation - Thank you.

A note about Climbing Access

The crag located south of the power lines known as Low Voltage Crag are understood to be open for climbing as of 2015. The crag known as High Voltage Crag found north of the power lines is private property. Please be respectful of local landowners and observe any posted closures.

The RMF has been in contact with local landowners in an effort to secure recreational access to the crags north of the power lines [2015].

Rules & Regulations

Please also be aware that the parking lot is private property owned by the YMCA Camp Sloper Outdoor Center.  While on the property, their certain rules and regulations that the  YMCA Camp Sloper Outdoor Center requires its guest to follow, these include:

  • Please observe all posted signage and warnings.

  • YMCA Camp Sloper is a drug, alcohol and smoke free property. No exceptions.

  • Parking is not permitted during summer camps.

  • Absolutely no parking weekdays the last week of June through the end of August - 6:30am to 5:30pm. Weekend parking is permitted during the summer camp season.

  • Groups of 8 or more are required to obtain a group permit from Southington YMCA.

  • Park in designated areas only. Do not attempt to drive on the power line access road.

  • Leave no trace and dispose of garbage in proper containers.

  • Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times.

  • Vehicles must be removed from property before dark. Vehicles left after dark will be towed at the owners expense.

  • You alone are responsible for your safety. Enter at your own risk.
