East Peak Trail Work Recap

On March 24th, the Ragged Mountain Foundation teamed up with UCONN Adventure and the Trinity College Quest program to make significant improvements on the trail system at the base of East Peak. RMF volunteers led the charge with board member George Maynard creating a trail by sidehilling between the base of the Amphitheater's Main Face and the Fall Wall. Thanks to the efforts of the 26 people who came out on Sunday, climbers can now easily traverse the cliff from the classic and Fall walls namesake route Reflections of Fall, all the way to the base of Rappel Groove. UCONN and Trinity College helped by adding steps underneath April Showers in the Rite of Spring area as well as clearing out the main access gulley between Rappel Groove and the Dihedrals.

Several areas still need to be shored up, so please take caution when navigating the network of trails underneath the cliff. The next scheduled trail day will take place on April 21st. The RMF will be improving these trails as well as picking up trash within the park. Some trail work tasks may include improving the approach gully and creating sustainable steps between Downcast and Say it Ain't So.
